John Mahoney
Nacido en Blackpool, Reino Unido, Mahoney inició su carrera de actor casi con cuarenta años. Llegó a Estados Unidos con diecinueve años, y tras pasar por la universidad, se alistó en el ejército para acelerar los trámites de solicitud de ciudadanía. En los setenta fue profesor de lengua en la Western Illinois University y abandonó su trabajo como editor de una revista médica para estudiar interpretación en Chicago. Se convirtió en elemento fijo de la legendaria compañía de teatro Steppenwolf, fundada por John Malkovich, y pronto saltó a los escenario de Nueva York.
Mahoney trabajó en el cine durante más de treinta y cinco años. Su currículum cinematográfico, que arranca con "Dos estafadores y una mujer" de Barry Levinson, incluye títulos como "El presidente y Miss Wade", "Frenético", "Barton Fink", "Hechizo de luna", "Reality Bites" o "Como la vida misma". Además, puso voz a personajes animados de films como "Antz" y "Atlantis".
Su primer trabajo televisivo fue para la serie 'Chicago Story' de NBC en 1982, y en 1990 protagonizó el drama policial 'H.E.L.P.'. Pero su salto a la fama llegó en 1993 con 'Frasier' y su papel como Martin Crane, el inolvidable padre cascarrabias de Frasier y Niles. Tras el final de 'Frasier', le ofrecieron múltiples papeles en televisión, y apareció en series como 'Urgencias', 'Burn notice', 'En terapia' o 'Hot in Cleveland'.
